Nearly 50 years ago the Charbonneau community was built with the clear understanding that the Boone Bridge would be a key connection to daily services such as grocery shopping, healthcare and other necessities. The current proposal from ODOT for tolling is not acceptable. Not only does it cut off Charbonneau from the rest of Wilsonville, it also causes an undue and unreasonable burden to the residents, many of whom are seniors. The Boone Bridge is key to all Wilsonville residents going back and forth to Charbonneau. I do not support the proposal by ODOT for tolling at the Boone Bridge and will be an advocate for ODOT to find another solution to the congestion in our communities.
When we make policies and laws, we must consider the impacts of those decisions. Solving one concern without understanding the ramifications is not good policy making.
