I support the passage of HB 4114 in the 2022 Session and applaud Rep. Courtney Neron for being the chief sponsor of this bill. It’s important that all public officials not use their office for financial gain, and expanding who must now make a public official disclosure of economic conflict of interest is the right thing to do for transparency. Representative Neron is one of my heroes and has long been a tireless advocate for education, environmental protection, safer communities, and other important issues.

To build integrity, transparency, and public trust, adding School Board members to the many public officials required to file Statements of Economic Interest with the Oregon Government Ethics Commission is important.

The bill passed both the House and the Senate and is on the way to the Governor for signature.  Congratulations Rep. Neron – thank you for your leadership, and your hard work on behalf of HD 26 and all Oregonians!

Note:While not currently required by Community College Board members, I would be pleased to submit an annual Statement of Economic Interest with the Oregon Government Ethics Commission if it is required in the future.
