Business owners are a key part of our community strength. They provide good jobs, influence development needs and provide critical services that make our communities livable and inviting. This week I had the privilege to speak with business, industry and the family owners of Dar Salam at their weekly business leaders meeting. I had great conversations with and photos with Dr. Wajdi Said, Co-Founder of the Muslim Educational Trust in Tigard, Rep. Teresa Alonso Leon, George Carillo for Governor, and Caitlin Popp, Director of Programming at Race Talks in Portland among others. I spoke with several individuals on a broad range of topics including the impacts of COVID-19 on businesses, the division in our political climate, as well as how to help our communities feel safe and encourage people to come back to in person activities. I know that our businesses are looking to be good partners to help our neighborhoods and our cities thrive. As your State Senator I will work to ensure our business leaders have a clear voice in making this happen.
